Kevin Woodard was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and shaped his life around a commitment to the ancestral traditions that guided him from childhood. That path led him into African spiritual societies rooted in Central and West African knowledge systems, including initiations into their mystery sysyems . His journey widened when a dream summoned him to the mountains of northern Haiti, where he spent nearly two years living among rural communities and learning from priests and practitioners whose work preserved memories of a world that existed before the Atlantic slave trade. Their teachings, carried across generations, opened parts of the tradition that were rarely shared with outsiders.
He later returned to the United States, but a dream from his grandmother redirected his steps once more. Her warning sent him to the western coast of Africa, where he rebuilt his life and allowed his practice to deepen. Over time he moved toward a form of African shamanic work shaped by his relationship with a spirit known as Kouzen in Haiti and Ndundulu in West Africa, a healer whose presence reaches back more than three millennia to ancient Nubia. Decades of steady devotion strengthened his role as a spiritual worker and drew the attention of three goddesses known in many cultures as Hecate. Their recognition formed a lasting bond with him and his wife, Ebiware, and included the gift of a sacred book guarded by a being from the realm of Elysium named Brenna, remembered in divine circles as a master storyteller.
Kevin’s literary historical fiction and creative work draw from these lived experiences, ancestral memory, spiritual lineage, and the cultural landscapes he has walked. His writing carries the realism of a life spent traveling between worlds and listening to the stories preserved within them.
