In 1784,Caya and her husband, Behechio, were born into hardship and spent their lives as Taino peasants in the countryside of Matanzas, Cuba. Poverty shaped every season of their lives, yet Behechio carried a simple vow. He would provide for his wife and children for as long as he lived, even after and into death.
When a tragic accident claimed his life, the promise remained.
Death took his body, but it could not erase his vow.
As Caya struggled to feed her family and face an uncertain future, three bags of unclaimed gold appeared along a lonely road. The treasure seemed like an answer to every prayer she uttered, yet nothing of such value comes without a price.
