Description
In the year 1741, in the settlement of Orsha, located in the Vitsebsk region of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in present day Belarus.” A boy is born into a house ruled by cruelty. His mother, Tatsiana, was forced into marriage to a violent man named Anatol. Their home becomes a place of unspoken abuse, visble but ignored bruises, and fear.
When his mother vanishes and his younger brother whom he tried to protect dies in his arms, Mikalai swears that he will never forgive the man that made their lives a prison of torture. Twelve years later, he returns a grown man to confront his father, now hiding behind a newly found sense of salvation, scripture quoting and repentance. Mikalai listens, unmoved, and speaks a curse that will follow the man into death and beyond the grave.
This is a story about inherited pain, survival in seclusion, and the vengeance that lives quietly inside a forgiveness never given.
